Green Week comes to Bath’s Universities
The University of Bath Students and Bath Spa University in conjunction with both Student Unions are hosting Green Weeks from the 23rd - 27th February 2015.
Both Universities are committed to continuous environmental improvement and Green Week is a key event that celebrates this.
This year's Green Week runs in conjunction with Fairtrade Fortnight and National Student Volunteering Week. Events taking place across the week explore themes such as sustainable transport, food and resource use.
Cycling features at both Universities. Dr Bike sessions held at Bath Spa University on the Wednesday and on Friday the University of Bath runs its first ever Cycle Cinema. This off-grid event sees members of the audience generating power for the big screen by bike!
On Saturday 28th February, both Universities will join together with the Student Community Partnership, in a ‘Big Spring Clean’ event, when teams of student volunteers and members of the local community will litter pick the key routes into the city, culminating at the Abbey. This event is being organised by the V Team at The University of Bath as part of National Volunteering Week.
Universities have a significant impact on local communities as well as their student populations. Long after they leave as graduates, students are affected by the behaviour and values that they develop at university and events such as these help to a develop socially-positive outlook.
